News received today included the first Cuckoo of the spring off the west lane. An Osprey was reported via Bird Guides for this morning. The drake Garganey was on the north shore..A Hobby and Red Kite flew over. A single Ringed Plover was on the north shore.
I had the day off to see an Indigo Bunting (photo by Dennis Morrison) at Whitburn just north of Sunderland. After a 3 hour wait, we finally connected as it sang in front of us before flying off again. This will be the 4th record for Britain of this North American Bunting.
