A fantastic days birding where the birds dropped out of the sky throughout the day. A combination of overnight rain with a moderate easterly breeze certainly did the trick. Just over 13 hours spent in the field today produced 14 species of wader with with a record 7 Avocet, 2 Wood Sandpiper, 1 Green Sandpiper, 6 Common Sandpiper, 7 Greenshank, 16 Redshank, 1 Whimbrel, 1 Curlew, 3 Dunlin, 1 Ringed Plover, 11 LRP, 10 Oystercatcher and 2 Snipe. A Black Tern dropped in at 7.45am and was joined by another at midday. 18 Common Tern dropped in at 8.10am. 2 Adult Little Gulls flew thru late afternoon. 4 Yellow Wagtail were on the north shore. 1 Great Egret and 3 Little Egret were noted. 1 Goldeneye, 1 Wigeon and 19 Shelduck were counted.
