An Osprey flew over at midday. The 3 Black-necked Grebe remain off the dam, also the pair of Garganey were still at the west end. 2 Cattle Egret and 1 Great Egret were on the north shore. A Redshank was a new arrival, also 1 Greenshank, 4 Common Sandpiper and 1 Ringed Plover were present. The 2 pairs of nesting Oystercatcher have hatched young today with 3 on the shingle Island at the west end and 2 chicks on the Chappell Island. A Green Woodpecker was heard at the west end, also a Lesser Whitethroat. A Green Hairstreak butterfly, along the west lane by the Hawkshutts hide becomes a first record for the reserve.
