BELVIDE Showery NW/N 2

  •  An enjoyable days birding with plenty to see. A Juvenile Little Stint dropped in during a downpour at 11.50am. A Whimbrel flew south at 8.30am, also 2 Greenshank, 1 Redshank, 1 Ruff, 4 Dunlin, 7 Ringed Plover, 6 LRP, 2 Green Sandpiper, 9 Common Sandpiper and 1 Snipe were present. A juvenile Marsh Harrier was present this afternoon, also 3 Red Kite, 2 Peregrine and 2 Hobby. The juvenile Black-necked Grebe was off the dam, also 17 Little Grebe were counted. Great Egret and 7 Little Egret remain. A juvenile Common Tern dropped in this afternoon. At least 50 Swift and 300 House Martin were present. 35 Egyptian Geese + 5 goslings increases the reserve record. 73 Pied Wagtail were on ther north shore. A Lord Derbyan Parakeet (photo by Trish Wellings) was by the Hawkshutts hide this afternoon and a new bird for the exotica list.
