BELVIDE 21.8.25 Cloudy NE 2

 Another juvenile Black Tern dropped in at 3.15pm. Waders today included a juvenile Black-tailed Godwit, 3 Greenshank, 1 Redshank, 2 Dunlin, 4 Ringed Plover, 7 LRP, 1 Green Sandpiper, 7 Common Sandpiper. The 2 Lesser Scaup were still present, also 1 Garganey and 137 Teal were counted. A juvenile Goshawk (photo) was off the west track this afternoon.also a Hobby and Peregrine were noted. 7 Great Egret and 13 Little Egret were present.

BELVIDE 20.8.25 Overcast NE 2

 The 2 Lesser Scaup and juvenile female Garganey  were still present, also 68 Shoveler were counted. Waders today included 2 Greenshank , 2 Redshank, 2 Ruff, 1 Green Sandpiper, 5 Common Sandpiper, 5 Ringed Plover, 11 LRP, 3 Dunlin and 1 Snipe. 7 Great Egret and 15 Little Egret were noted. 242 Cormorant were counted.

BELVIDE 19.8.25 Morning Drizzle NE 3

 2 juvenile Black Tern off the dam were new arrivals. A Juvenile Knot at the west end was the first of the year, also 1 Ruff, 1 Redshank, 1 Oystercatcher, 3 Ringed Plover, 11 LRP, 3 Dunlin, 1 Green Sandpiper, 7 Common Sandpiper and 1 Snipe were present. The 2 Lesser Scaup remain with one at the west end and the other off the dam. The female Garganey was still at the west end. 7 Great Egret and 9 Little Egret were at the west end.

BELVIDE 18.8.25 Overcast ENE 2-3

 5 Ruff flew thru, with one mid morning and 4 around midday. Also 1 Greenshank , 1 Redshank, 1 Green Sandpiper, 8 Common Sandpiper, 2 Dunlin, 12 Ringed Plover, 11 LRP , 1 Oystercatcher and 1 Snipe were present. The 2 Lesser Scaup and Garganey remain. 4 Great Egret and 11 Little Egret were at the west end. 2 Hobby were seen a few times over the morning with one catching a Martin at 7am. An adult and imm Peregrine flew over. 6 Yellow Wagtail were along the dam. 224 Cormorant were counted.

BELVIDE 17.8.25 Sunny E 2

 A juvenile Whinchat and Stonechat were off the west track. A Wheatear was at the west end, also 2 Spotted Flycatcher with singles by the Gazebo hide and reservoir plantation. The 2 Lesser Scaup and Garganey remain. 2 Greenshank , 1 Redshank, 1 Green Sandpiper, 7 Common Sandpiper, 1 Dunlin, 7 Ringed Plover, 11 LRP, 3 Curlew and 1 Oystercatcher were present. 4 Great Egret 14 Little Egret and 35 Grey Heron were noted. 614 Greylag Geese were counted. A ringing session in the west Marsh produced 32 Chiffchaff, 4 Blackcap, 4 Sedge Warbler, 2 Reed Warbler.

BELVIDE 16.8.25 Overcast am/ Fair pm E 2-3

 18 Ringed Plover flew thru today, also 9 LRP, 2 Greenshank, 7 Redshank, 2 Dunlin, 1 Green Sandpiper, 9 Common Sandpiper and 1 Oystercatcher were present. The 2 Lesser Scaup were still present, also 1 Garganey, 91 Teal,  61 Shoveler and 43 GC Grebe were counted. 3 Goosander flew thru late morning. 4 Great Egret and 9 Little Egret were at the west end. 2 Hobby, 2 Peregrine and 2 Red Kite were noted. 214 Cormorant were counted.

BELVIDE 15.8.25 Hot Sunny NW 2

 The 2 Lesser Scaup were still present with one at the west end and the other off the dam. Also the Garganey remains at the west end. The juvenile Gull from yesterday was still present and a bit of a head scratcher, with opinions switching between Caspian and Yellow-legged Gull. A juvenile Green Sandpiper was showing well below the Chappell hide, also 2 Greenshank, 1 Redshank, 5 Common Sandpiper and 6 LRP were present. 3 Great Egret and 12 Little Egret were noted.

BELVIDE 14.8.25 Cloudy WSW 2-3

A juvenile Caspian Gull (Top photo) was showing well from the Chappell hide this afternoon, also a juvenile Yellow-legged Gull (photo) with a Dutch colour ring. The 2 Lesser Scaup were still present with one at the west end and the other off the dam . A female Garganey at the west end was a new arrival, also 72 Teal were counted. The Egyptian Goose record has increased to 32 today. A juvenile Black-tailed Godwit was at the west end , also 2 Greenshank, 1 Redshank, 2 Ringed Plover and 5 Common Sandpiper were present. Both adult and juvenile Med Gulls were along the south east bay. 4 Great Egret, 5 Little Egret and 2 Common Tern were noted. 35 Grey Heron was a noteworthy count.

 News received today included the 2 Lesser Scaup at the west end, also 1 Greenshank, 1 Ringed Plover, 3 LRP, 3 Common Sandpiper and 1 Great Egret. This mornings ringing session that produced 1 Grasshopper Warbler, 24 Reed Warbler, 20 Sedge Warbler, 58 Chiffchaff, 11 Willow Warbler, 18 Blackcap, 4 Garden Warbler, 3 Whitethroat and 3 Goldcrest.

BELVIDE 11.8.25 Cloudy Warm SE 1-2

 The 2 Lesser Scaup remain at the west end. 6 Ringed Plover, 7 LRP and 5 Common Sandpiper were present. A Spotted Flycatcher was near the Gazebo hide. 2 Common Tern , 1 Great Egret and 9 Little Egret were noted.

BELVIDE 10.8.25 Cloudy SW 1-2

 Today's WeBS count produced the 2 Lesser Scaup at the west end, als0 154 Tufted Duck, 12 Pochard, 600 Mallard, 87 Gadwall, 42 Teal, 49 Shoveler, 1 Wigeon, 19 Shelduck, 29 GC Grebe, 4 Little Grebe, 770 Coot, 117 Moorhen, 449 Canada Geese, 426 Greylag Geese, 29 Egyptian Geese, 68 Mute Swan, 151 Cormorant, 1 Great Egret and 5 Little Egret. 2 Whimbrel dropped in briefly this morning, also 1 Curlew, 1 Black-tailed Godwit flew thru, 9 Ringed Plover, 10 LRP, 5 Dunlin, 3 Green Sandpiper, 8 Common Sandpiper, 4 Oystercatcher and 4 Snipe. A Crossbill was heard only over the dam at 7am. 1 Hobby was noted. A ringing session in the west marsh produced 24 Chiffchaff, 2 Whitethroat, 7 Blackcap, 1 Garden Warbler, 6 Reed Warbler 1 Sedge Warbler.

BELVIDE 9.8.25 Cloudy W 2

 The 2 Lesser Scaup remain at the west end, also 150 Tufted Duck, 11 Pochard 1 Wigeon and a new record 29 Egyptian Geese were counted. 5 Ringed Plover , 2 Dunlin , 1 Black-tailed Godwit, 2 Oystercatcher, 1 Curlew and 6 Common Sandpiper were present. A Hobby caught a Martin, also 2 Red Kite were noted. 144 Cormorant were counted.

BELVIDE 8.8.25 Fair SW 2

 A Sanderling was at the west end till mid afternoon only, also 2 Dunlin, 5 Ringed Plover, 14 LRP, 1 Black-tailed Godwit, 1 Curlew, 3 Oystercatcher, 1 Green Sandpiper and 8 Common Sandpiper were present. The 2 Lesser Scaup remain at the west end.,also 19 juvenile Shelduck were counted .

BELVIDE 7.8.25 Afternoon Rain SW 2

 A Turnstone was present early morning only, also a juvenile Ruff was present this morning only. 1 Black-tailed Godwit was at the west end, also 1 Curlew, 1 Dunlin, 6 Ringed Plover, 19 LRP, 6 Common Sandpiper and 2 Oystercatcher were present. The 2 Lesser Scaup remain at the west end, also 34 Teal, 1 Wigeon, 42 Shoveler and 17 juvenile Shelduck were counted. 2 Lesser Whitethroat were at the west end.

BELVIDE 6.8.25 Fair WSW 2

 The 2 Lesser Scaup remain at the west end, also 42 Shoveler were counted. A Whimbrel was on the north shore early afternoon only, also 1 Redshank , 4 Ringed Plover, 15 LRP, 1 Dunlin, 1 Green Sandpiper and 3 Common Sandpiper were present. 3 Yellow Wagtail and 2 Lesser Whitethroat were at the west end. A juvenile Red Kite flew over this afternoon. This mornings ringing session produced 1 Grasshopper Warbler,  28 Sedge Warbler, 27 Reed Warbler, 18 Blackcap, 6 Garden Warbler, 4 Whitethroat, 50 Chiffchaff and 5 Willow Warbler.

BELVIDE 5.7.25 Cloudy NW 3-4

 The 2 Lesser Scaup remain at the west end, also 1 Wigeon and 28 Shoveler were counted. 4 Ringed Plover, 17 LRP,  4 Snipe, 1 Dunlin, 9 Common Sandpiper and 3 Oystercatcher were present. 2 Hobby, 1 Red Kite, 1 Great Egret and 4 Little Egret were noted . The juvenile Wheatear was still on the north shore.

BELVIDE 4.8.25 Rain SW 4

 Not much change today with the 2 Lesser Scaup in front of the west end hide still. The Black-necked Grebe was opposite the Gazebo hide. An adult Mediterranean Gull was on the north shore. 4 Ringed Plover, 19 LRP, 2 Dunlin, 9 Common Sandpiper, 3 Snipe and 3 Oystercatcher were present. 1 Great Egret and 1 Common Tern were noted. The juvenile Wheatear was still on the north shore.

BELVIDE 3.8.25 Showers SW 1-2

 The 2 Lesser Scaup remain at the west end with 165 Tufted Duck. The Black-necked Grebe remains opposite the Gazebo hide but no sign of the Common Scoter today.  The first 3 returning Snipe were at the west end. A Green Sandpiper flew over this morning, also 7 Common Sandpiper, 4 Ringed Plover, 16 LRP , 1 Dunlin and 3 Oystercatcher were present. 2 Red Kite flew over. 7 Little Egret and a Great Egret were noted. An adult Yellow-legged Gull was present briefly this morning. A juvenile Wheatear was on the north shore.

BELVIDE 2.8.25 Fair NW 2

 The 2 Lesser Scaup remain at the west end, also the female Common Scoter was off the fishing club car park. The adult Black-necked Grebe was opposite the Gazebo hide. A juvenile Wheatear and 3 Lesser Whitethroat were off the west track. 2 Whimbrel were on the north shore early morning only, also 6 Dunlin, 1 Ringed Plover, 8 Common Sandpiper and 3 Oystercatcher were present. An early GBB Gull flew thru this morning. 2 Red Kite, 1 Hobby and 1 Peregrine were noted. 1 Great Egret was at the west end.

 Today's ringing totals with the south east bay and west marsh combined produced the first Grasshopper Warbler of the year (photo) also a juvenile Redstart, 34 Sedge Warbler, 16 Reed Warbler, 14 Whitethroat, 2 Garden Warbler, 13 Blackcap, 28 Chiffchaff, 3 Willow Warbler and 1 Goldcrest.

BELVIDE 1.8.25 Overcast NW 3-4

 The 2 Lesser Scaup remain at the west end with both birds now in heavy wing moult. The female Common Scoter was still off the fishing club car park. The adult Black-necked Grebe was off the Chappell hide. A Sanderling was on the north shore briefly this afternoon. 15 Black-tailed Godwit including 4 juveniles flew thru mid afternoon. Also 3 Ringed Plover, 12 LRP, 1 Dunlin, 6 Common Sandpiper and 3 Oystercatcher were present. 23 Shoveler, 22 Egyptian Geese and 119 Cormorant were counted.
